ABOUT BIBLE VACCINE CENTER

We exist because someone should have been there.

Who We Are

Protecting the Church with the right truth

"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Bible Vaccine Center exists in this era of confusion, where false doctrines distort the truth and mislead believers and to protect the Church (the Body of Christ) and its members with the right truth. In practical terms, that means helping individuals and families find their way out of high-control religious groups, and helping the Church become equipped to recognize and resist them.

Cults thrive on isolation. They cut people off from family, community, and outside information. Many survivors leave and find themselves without support. Many families reach out to their churches and are turned away. Bible Vaccine Center exists to be the place that does not turn you away.

Pastor Yang

Pastor Yang

Pastor Hyung-joo Yang holds a B.A. in Philosophy from UC Irvine and an M.Div. and Th.D. in New Testament Studies from Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary (PUTS) in Korea, where he serves as an adjunct professor. Pastor Yang was also a visiting scholar at TEDS(Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) during 2023-2024.

A recognized expert on Shincheonji, he has authored roughly 30 books, including Shincheonji Vaccine Vol. 1 & 2 and Kind Answers to Sudden Questions from Shincheonji. He is the founder and director of the Bible Vaccine Center, an international cult-prevention ministry active in Mongolia, the U.S., Canada, and Honduras.

Our Team Members

Chris V

Based in Seattle, Washington, Chris was not a researcher who studied Shincheonji from the outside. He was inside and a recruiter.  That firsthand knowledge of how these groups think, recruit, and hold members is what makes his intervention work different.

He is mentored by Dr. Steve Hassan, a recurring speaker at EMNR, and is a recurring team member on the Cultish Podcast. He has been featured in World Magazine and has helped close to 1,000 Shincheonji members leave the group.

John Pyon

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, John was born in South Korea and raised in the United States. John brings a bicultural fluency that is rare in the English-language apologetics world. He is an M.Div. candidate at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, specializing in Christian Apologetics, and a certified Bible Vaccine Center counselor trained under Pastor Yang.

His motivation comes from what he calls a “campus crisis”: cults targeting college students who have sincere faith but lack the tools to spot a counterfeit gospel.

Mitch C

Based in Colorado,  Mitch Cunico is a U.S. Navy veteran of six years who also spent six years in the World Mission Society Church of God, a high-control cult. Brought in while stationed in San Diego, he was later sent to Oklahoma, where he lived on the church’s compound and was put into an arranged marriage to a Korean member. In the cult, Mitch helped establish house churches across the U.S. and spent time in Africa doing the same. After leaving the cult, Mitch became an activist, dedicating his work to helping others understand and escape high-control South Asian cults. Now, Mitch is an undercover investigative journalist who infiltrates these groups to expose their doctrines, tactics, and harm. He also runs his own business and the YouTube channel Cult Audit, where he interviews former members and creates investigative documentaries to protect others.

Pastor Yun-Hee Shin

Based in Vancouver, Canada, Pastor Shin began his academic journey at Yonsei University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. Driven by a deep calling to ministry, he went on to pursue his Master of Divinity at Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary, further grounding himself in theological studies. He later expanded his worldview by completing a Master’s Degree at the Vancouver Institute for Evangelical Worldview (VIEW), equipping himself with a broader understanding of faith and culture.

Today, he channels the breadth of his education and experience into active ministry. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Cultivators Church, where he leads and nurtures his congregation with purpose and vision. Alongside this role, he also serves as the Director of the Bible Vaccine Center Vancouver, a ministry registered under Bible Vaccine Ministry, dedicated to strengthening believers in their faith.

Elijah R

Elijah Reynolds is a graduate of biology from Georgia State University and is pursuing a fulfilling career in medicine. Currently, he serves at Hope City Church in Savannah, Georgia, as a musician and as the leader of the Rooted Young Adults ministry, where he encourages other young Christians to grow in their relationship with God. He has traveled as a missionary with Circuit Riders and spends his time ministering to individuals of other faiths, including Shincheonji, Islam and Hebrew Israelite communities.
